KOSPI Profit Forecast Nears 1,000 Trillion Won as 10,000-Point View Emerges

According to Hankyung, South Korea’s stock market is seeing forecasts that operating profit at KOSPI-listed companies could exceed 1,000 trillion won next year, while some market views have also raised the possibility of the KOSPI reaching 10,000 points this year. The outlook is tied to expected earnings improvement in major industries such as semiconductors, defense, shipbuilding, machinery and refining. KB Securities previously projected listed firms’ operating profit on the main board at 792 trillion won this year and suggested it could surpass 1,000 trillion won next year. A lower 12-month forward PBR than the global market average was also cited as part of the upside case.
