MSS Selects Six Startups for OpenData X AI Challenge Using Public Data

South Korea’s Ministry of SMEs and Startups said on Feb. 12 that it selected six startups for the OpenData X AI Challenge, an artificial intelligence pilot project using public data. The challenge is designed to open field data held by public institutions to AI startups so they can develop technology-based ways to address problems faced by small businesses and merchants. A total of 124 startups joined the program. After document screening, expert review and user experience evaluation, two companies were chosen for each of three tasks, making six winners in total. The selected firms will receive commercialization support focused on startups, R&D and professional talent, along with opportunities for policy fund loans and guarantees. The ministry also held a meeting at the Global Startup Center in Gangnam, Seoul, to discuss AI solution development, use and application in policy settings. Source: yna.co.kr
